A collection of some of my photos from several
cities in the Extremadura and other parts of
Spain.
Plasencia, Spain. Plasencia is a focal point of my dissertation research. I document the rise of the Carvajales in Plasencia from the 1390s through the late 1500s. Plasencia generated important ecclesiatical leaders, such as Cardinal Juan de Carvajal and Cardinal Bernardino Lopez de Carvajal. Also, Dr. Lorenzo Galindez de Carvajal, Counselor to the Reyes Catolicos, kept a home here.
Trujillo, Spain. A few photos of this city just to the south of Plasencia and within the Bishopric of Plasencia. Trujillo was an ancestral home of the Carvajales in the Extremadura. Also, many of the Carvajales that migrated to the New World came from this city. The better known of these are Diego de Carvajal (son of Dr. Lorenzo Galindez de Carvajal) and Friar Gaspar de Carvajal who travelled with the Pizarros to South America.
"Moving Pictures" of Spain. A couple of my short video clips from Semana Santa in Toledo, the countryside near Plasencia, and the Juri Canonico Hall at the Universidad de Salamanca.
